EPISODE 0094 | Mastering Anger Part 2

THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0094

Uncontrolled anger doesn’t have to define your relationships or your life. In this episode, we dive into five practical, biblical ways to deal with anger and respond to angry people. From calculating the cost of anger to finding your identity in Christ, learn how to turn anger into an opportunity for growth and peace.

5 WAYS TO DEAL WITH ANGER & ANGRY PEOPLE

1.    Calculate the cost of anger.

You’re less likely to get angry - if realize: always a price tag

Bible-very specific about cost of uncontrolled anger:

·      Proverbs 29:22 “An angry person causes trouble, and  a person with a quick temper sins a lot.” (NCV)

·      Proverbs 15:18 (GN)  "Hot tempers cause arguments."

·      Proverbs 14:29 (LB)  ". . . anger causes mistakes."

·      Proverbs 14:17 (GN)  "People with hot tempers do foolish things."

·      Proverbs 14:29 “Those who control their anger have great understanding; those with a hasty temper make mistakes.” (NLT)

2.   Look past the words to the pain.

Proverbs 19:11 “A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.” (NIV)

Hurt people hurt people!

3. Think before reacting.

Think before you speak!  Anger control is largely a matter of mouth control:

   Don’t respond impulsively!

Proverbs 13:16 “Sensible people always think before they act.”

4.  Ask God for help.

Pressure always REVEALS what’s inside of you!

Galatians 5:22 “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, and patience…”

·      Filled with God – almost nothing upsets me

·      Filled with self- almost anything upsets me!

5. Base your identity in Jesus.

Anger & insecurity go together. The more insecure I feel...

Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of human opinion disables you; but  trusting in God protects you from that.” (MSG)
