EPISODE 0095 | Belt Of Truth
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0094
Spiritual warfare begins in the mind, and the key to victory is grounding yourself in the truth of God’s Word. In this episode, we explore the critical role of the Belt of Truth in the armor of God, revealing how it anchors us against the lies of the enemy and prevents strongholds from forming in our thoughts. Learn how to stand firm, renew your mind, and fight spiritual battles with the unshakable foundation of Scripture.
Characteristics of the Belt of Truth:
1. It had a clip that would hold the shield. He was in battle and didn’t have to carry the whole weight of the shield. It allowed him to fight with more flexibility.
2. It held the scabbard that held the roman short sword.
3. It also had a place to sling a spear on your back.
4. The breastplate would tuck into the belt so there was no vulnerability. (the breastplate was secured to the belt)
5. It Protected the waist, groin and reproductive organs.
(Gird your loins are symbolic of reproduction) Your mind reproduces after the thoughts that are planted in it. This is why you must protect what comes into your mind. Specifically strongholds of thinking:
2 Corinthians 10:4 We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.
How is a Stronghold Formed?
1. Satan plants a lie in your mind.
2. That lie grows into an imagination.
3. That imagination results in behavior.
4. That repeated behavior becomes a stronghold.
How Do You Defeat a Stronghold?
1. You prevent them. Prevention is important. You never rise to the occasion you fall to the level of your preparation. You learn to identify the lies quickly and prevent them from taking root in your mind.
2. You detect and replace them.
The Belt of Truth is the written Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
The Bible is Profitable for:
1. Doctrine. This is what God has done for us. Reminding us who God is and what He is like. What we believe about God.
Absolute vs. Relative Truth – Woke Generation – Truth is what I say it is until you aren’t in control anymore.
Because we don’t know God, we fashion our own God. The children of isreal did this by fashioning a calf out of Gold but we do it by fashioning a God that we like. Through our experience, our opinions and our own watered down personalized truth.
John 17:17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. What wakes a WOKE generation. Embracing the truth, God’s word and his ways.
2. Reproof. We learn from what others did wrong in the Bible. This is a warning not to follow them.
Example: Paul in this same letter writes this to Young Timothy, it was true in the church at Ephesus, the society and Rome and we learn from it today!
2 Timothy 3:1-5 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
3. Correction. This is what we are doing wrong. The bible is amazing at helping us sort the truth from the lies.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
4. Instruction in Righteousness. This is what we do for God. We learn how to honor God with our time, talent treasure. Teaches us that this world is passing away and what true righteousness is. Obedience over sacrifice.
Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
The only way to overcome a demonic stronghold is to replace it with a Biblical one.
