EPISODE 0067 | Faith Is Action
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0067
Faith is more than belief—it’s action. Today, Pastor Stephen teaches us how true faith means actively trusting God, even when faced with uncertainty, fear, or past disappointments. He also shows us practical ways to grow in faith, including the importance of daily obedience, quiet time, and speaking God’s promises over our lives. Join us to discover how living out your faith can transform your spiritual journey and bring God’s power into every aspect of life.
Why Don’t We Act?
Uncertainity in the present - Your past can inform you but only God’s Word transforms you. You’re paralyzed…
The Fear of The Future - You stop moving forward and start evaluating… everything. You get drawn into why more than who? It causes doubt and fear to move forward. You get drawn into distractions: Like conspiracy theories, you doubt everyone, you may even become the expert in areas you know nothing about… sound familiar?
The Pain of the Past - Two responses to situations: Fight or Flight. Epinephrine creates powerful patterns of behavior… past holding you.
As you look through the pages of the Bible you will see one thing over and over again – and that is God responds to the faith of His children.
Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
Faith is action.
God always requires us to act before the miracle. He does all the heavy lifting but we do our part.
How Do We Act in Faith?
1. We Go with God. You don’t go by yourself, you go with God. You don’t focus on what everyone else is doing, you focus on what God says. To begin with, the primary way we hear from God is the Bible.
Psalm 119:105 says: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
2. We Do the Next Right Thing. Instead of allowing uncertainty to paralyze you, allow it to redefine you? When you don’t know what you don’t, what’s next.
Psalm 37:23 says: The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
3. We Must Obey. You can’t wait for all the circumstances to be perfect before you step out. Do what God says. This is kind of related to do the next right thing BUT this is more about discipline doing the things that are always right. ***Church, we are not in the logistics business, figuring everything out. As believers, we are in the obedience business.
John 14:15-16 15 “If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.
How Do We Abide in Christ?
1. Sabbath Rest - – Every 7th day from sun up to sun down.
Mark 2:27 Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
2. Quiet Time – not religious but consistent (me-working out & solitude)
Mark 1:35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
3. Spoken Faith – You need to speak God’s word.
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
