EPISODE 0066 | The Fight For Hearts & Minds of Our Children

THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0066

In this episode, Pastor Stephen addresses the war on education and how today’s educational landscape has shifted far from its foundational roots in biblical principles. America's earliest schools, designed to uphold Christian values, have transformed into systems influenced by secular humanism, liberalism, and rationalism. How can parents take back an active role in shaping their children's worldview and ensure they are grounded in faith? Join us as we discuss why it’s crucial for parents to engage in their children's education.

Episode Transcript

Proverbs 23:7 NKJV For as he (a man) thinks in his heart, so is he.

Our Belief System is shaped, over time by observations, associations and teachings.

Humanism: Humanism is an ethical philosophy that prioritizes universal human qualities and intellect. Humanism submits to human values, systems and interests over God’s. Humanism rejects the validity of dependence on faith, the supernatural or divinely revealed truths.

Atheism: Belief that that there is no God. Which is the most unscientific conclusion ever.

Rationalism: Reason is the supreme authority in matters of opinion, belief, or conduct. Reason alone is a source of knowledge and is independent of experience.

Liberalism is a cover for these philosophies because in liberalism one can believe in God without having to accept any of His standards. Liberalism keeps introducing new and improved versions of God, whose moral standards seem to fit the preference of a liberal society.

How to Win the War on Education:

1.   Parents MUST take responsibility for their child’s education.

Proverbs 4:20–23: 20 My son, pay attention to my words; listen closely to my sayings. 21 Don’t lose sight of them; keep them within your heart. 22For they are life to those who find them, and health to one’s whole body. 23 Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.

2.   Parents MUST impress God’s character and ways on their children’s hearts.

Deuteronomy 6:7–9: 7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead. 9 Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your city gates.

3.   Parent’s MUST live out an authentic faith. (How you respond, devotions, serving- get out with your kids to serve in your local church and in the community)

Psalm 78:72: He shepherded them with a pure heart and guided them with his skillful hands.

4.   Parents MUST take responsibility for what their kids consume.

Proverbs 22:15: 15 Foolishness is bound to the heart of a youth; a rod of discipline will separate it from him.

5.   Parents MUST keep their family planted in the local church.

Psalm 92:12–15: 12 The righteous thrive like a palm tree and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon. 13 Planted in the house of the Lord, they thrive in the courts of our God. 14 They will still bear fruit in old age, healthy and green, 15 to declare, “The Lord is just; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.”

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
