EPISODE 0068 | The Fool, The Wise, The Simple.
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0068
Proverbs offers timeless wisdom on how to process life’s challenges and make decisions that align with God’s truth. In this episode, Pastor Stephen discusses three types of people—The Fool, The Wise, and The Simple—and how their approaches to life shape their outcomes. Learn how to guard your heart, choose the right influences, and develop a mindset rooted in Biblical principles. Aligning your thought process with God’s Word brings growth, integrity, and life-giving results for you and those you lead.
1. The Fool – Knows what’s wrong and doesn’t care.
2. The Wise – Knows what’s wrong and does what is right.
3. The Simple – Doesn’t know the difference.
How To Become Wise:
1. Focus on how YOU interpret what happens to You.
Proverbs 18:17 The first to speak in court sounds right—until the cross-examination begins.
2. Guard your heart.
Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Be sure that no root of bitterness grows up. Nothing takes root over-night but over time. Weeds are easy, roots are not. Bad roots hurt you and those around you.
Develop a Thick Skin and a Soft Heart.
Integrity – What you see is what you get… that’s a sign of a healthy heart. Not perfect but healthy.
3. Walk with the wise.
Proverbs 13:20 Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
Some thoughts for giving processing influence to people:
● Do they love God?
● Do they love you? Has the relationship been tested.
● Do they have influence AND Responsibility. A podcast may have influence but not responsibility.
● Do they have a good reputation and longevity. Don’t take advice on marriage from newly weds or business from a professor who’s never built one.
4. Avoid fools.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
Worldviews: Humanist vs. Biblical. Reject what seems right or sounds good for what may sound hard but is right. PLUG CIVILized.
1 John 2:17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
5. Focus on growth not comfort.
Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
6. Control your words.
Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
7. Only and you control your destiny.
Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
8. Think like God thinks.
Proverbs 9:10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment.
The Wrong Mindset:
1. Control Mindset.
I am in control; God’s is in control then others are in control.
2. Victim Mindset.
Others are in control; God is in control then I am in control.
3. Godless Mindset.
I am in control then others are in control.
The Right Mindset.
God is in control; I am in control then others are in control.
Galatians 6:7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.
