EPISODE 0089 | Poison of Unforgiveness
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0089
Unforgiveness is a poison that damages relationships, hardens hearts, and blocks the flow of God’s grace in our lives. In this episode, we uncover the destructive power of unforgiveness and explore biblical truths that lead to freedom and healing. Forgiveness isn’t easy, but it’s essential for a life of peace and spiritual growth. Let’s learn how to break free and live under God’s grace.
The Poison of Unforgiveness
1. Forgiveness
Forgiveness is a personal issue. Reconciliation is a relational issue.
Never hold on to a hurt. Resentment doesn’t hurt them. Resentment is poison we drink- hoping it kills them!
QUESTION: IS IT SMART to ignore God, to do wrong?
So every sin is irrational. Illogical. Self-inflicted pain. We all, often act foolishly without realizing it.
Luke 23:34 Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing."
Not everyone who annoys or hurts you realizes it!
Colossians. 3:13 “You must make allowance for each other's faults and forgive the person who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”
2. Do Not Gossip
Let’s admit it: When you someone difficult in your life, it’s almost impossible to NOT talk about them behind their back. It may feel good- but it is unloving:
1 Peter 3:9 “Do not do wrong to repay a wrong, and do not insult to repay an insult. But repay with a blessing, because you yourselves were called to do this so that you might receive a blessing. “
3. Don’t Take The Bait
You can’t speak reasonably to unreasonable people. You will just get frustrated.
Matthew. 22:18-19 “The Pharisees plotted a way to trap him into saying something damaging… Jesus knew they were up to no good. He said, ‘Why are you playing these games with me? Why are you trying to trap me?’”
You can’t talk people out of positions they didn’t arrive at logically.
Like Jesus, Paul refused to play games with difficult people:
2 Corinthians 4:2 “We reject all shameful and underhanded methods. We do not try to trick anyone, and we do not distort the word of God. We tell the truth before God, and all who are honest know that.”
5. Don’t Surrender The High Ground
Love is NOT allowing yourself to be manipulated
Many believers don’t get this. They think: passively acquiesce.
Instead you need to think: HUMBLE RESOLVE
Romans 14:16 “Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil.”
