EPISODE 0076 | Making Family Time For God
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0076
God’s Plan for family works… but we must work it. Integrating faith into everyday life begins with simple, intentional habits, and by focusing on key moments in our days we can create opportunities to instill biblical values in our children and strengthen our homes. What happens in our own house matters more than what happens in the White House, and living out God’s design for family starts with us.
Deuteronomy 6:6–9 (NLT) And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Four Impressionable Times of the Day
1. Morning Time.
2. Table Time.
3. Travel Time.
4. Bedtime.
Today only 4% of this generation live according to biblical values.
In contrast, 65% in the generation that lived between 1927-1945 lived according to biblical values.
Do Three Things Together:
1. Pray together.
2. Discuss the Bible together
3. Attend church together.
Colossians 3:18–21 (NLT) Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly. Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.
God’s Plan for family works… but we must work it.
As important as the white house is, what happens in our own house, in our own homes, in our own lives, is even more important.
