EPISODE 0046 | Stand Still
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0046
Are you struggling to stay grounded in your faith during uncertain times? In today’s episode, Pastor Stephen challenges us to embrace the command to “stand still” from Exodus 14. As the Israelites faced impossible odds, God called them to stand firm in faith—and we can do the same. Discover how standing in faith can lead to seeing God’s victory in your life, even when the odds seem overwhelming.
Standing still is not being inactive or being passive. It is trusting in God and knowing that the battle is His, and that He wants to give us victory in life, more than we want it ourselves.
Three Ways We Stand in Faith:
1. We stand on God’s Word, the Bible.
Ephesians 6:13: Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
God gives us the Bible, His Word, to be the centerpiece of our lives. WHY? The Bible holds you in place.
Over and over, Paul tells us to stand in faith.
1 Corinthians 16:13: Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.
2 Corinthians 1:24: says: Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.
2. Stand in faith through worship.
John 4:24: “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
I Timothy 2:8: In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.
3. Stand in faith through prayer.
Sometimes we think prayer is therapeutic, or that it just makes us feel better - but your prayers are meant to get things done.
James 5:16: 16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
Your actions in the natural effect things in the spiritual.
Exodus 14:13-14: And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
