EPISODE 0031 | Three Kings - Lessons From King Solomon

THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0031

We often believe that life would be better if we had more-more money, more friends, more career advancement, or more education. While more might seem like an answer, it’s not the answer. In today's episode we explore the life of Solomon, and we discover that true living isn’t found in accumulating more, but in a genuine relationship with Jesus.

Lessons from the life of King Solomon

1.   God always redeems our disappointments.

David and Bathsheba lost a son and it caused great heart ache, but God was still faithful to them, and gave them a son in His redemptive plan name Solomon.

2 Samuel 12:24: 24 Then David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and slept with her. She became pregnant and gave birth to a son, and David named him Solomon. The Lord loved the child.

Solomon would go on to honor his father David and become the King of Israel. What we learn through this point is that God will take our disappointments and turn them around for his glory.

2.   God always keeps his promises.

1 Kings 8:56:56 “Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.

3.   Wisdom is better than riches.

So often in life we want all these things, and Solomon had it all. Yet all he wanted from God was wisdom. He wanted direction. He wanted God’s hand upon what he was doing.

4.   Bad company corrupts good morals.

Proverbs 13:20: 20 Walk with the wise and become wise;
    associate with fools and get in trouble.

5.   Contentment leads to happiness.

One of the challenges that we all face is being at peace with exactly where we are in life. Just trusting that no time is wasted and God is putting it all together. We can learn from Solomon to be content, and just walk in the wisdom of God.
