EPISODE 0030 | Three Kings - Lessons From King David
THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0030
David was a man after God’s own heart—extraordinary, intelligent, gifted, and handsome. Yet, he was also deeply flawed and imperfect. Despite being one of history’s most famous leaders, David didn’t begin his journey at the top; he was repeatedly overlooked. In today’s episode, we explore David’s rise from a humble shepherd to the king who would establish the world’s most important dynasty.
Lessons from King David’s Life
1. David was hidden by God
David would have never been ready for the giant, if he hadn’t been hidden in the wilderness learning to handle the lion and the bears. Not one challenge in your life has been wasted by God.
2. David was overlooked and underestimated
David was overlooked because:
• He was small
• He was young
• He was inexperienced
• His appearance
Have you ever felt overlooked or underestimated? God sees you, even when others don’t! No one knows your value, like the one who created you.
3. David was deeply flawed
Although David had a great heart he wasn’t perfect. He allowed his flesh to get the best of him, he and didn’t resist. We get in trouble when we aren’t where we are supposed to be, but the key is to surrender your heart to Jesus; HE can handle your failures, mistakes, and wrong doings.
4. David stayed close to God
Even though David was flawed and made some major mistakes, He had a heart of repentance and remorse.
Psalms 51:10: Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Most of David’s mistakes came when he got distant from God, or lost sight of what’s important. David stayed close to God, and anytime he got distant he would draw right back in.
5. God redeemed David’s Life
Jesus our savior comes from the lineage of David. Although David was a flawed man, it’s a great reminder of God’s goodness and how all things work together for good!
