EPISODE 0007 | Hunger & Bitterness

THESE NOTES ACCOMPANY EPISODE 0007

You are either going forward or backward, there is no neutral. God wants His people to go forward and build the Kingdom, but we must be HUNGRY and make the most of our time to be successful. Today, Pastor Stephen teaches us how to stay hungry for God and the keys for longevity in our relationships.

SHOW NOTES:

How do you stay hungry for God?

H – Hunger (for God) You acquire the taste for God when you take Him at his Word and experience it’s results.

Psalm 34:8 "Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!"

U – Understand (Seek Wisdom)

Proverbs 9:10 "Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment."

N – No Excuses (Repent)

Romans 1:20 (NKJV): "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse."

G – Grow (Do the Next Right Thing) You can’t control what happens to you this year but you can be intentional about what happens in you.

1 Corinthians 9:27 "I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified."

R – Resist (Fight Hell) Three kinds of Temptation: Lust of Flesh, Lust of Eyes, Pride of Life.

James 4:7 "So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

Y – You (Take Radical Responsibility) Serenity prayer.

Matthew 7:5 "Hypocrite! First, get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye."

You overcome offense through authenticity and honesty.

Three Questions I Ask Myself In Relation To My Feelings:

1.   Do I need to let it go?

2.   Do I need to grow up?

3.   Do I need to bring it up?

Reasons Why People Don’t Deal With Offense:

1.   To spare feelings. (Don’t be a jerk)

2.   To save face. (To be right)

3.   For personal gain or to protect themselves. (To survive)

4.   It has become a habit. (Root of bitterness)
