Characteristics of the Wise
1. The Wise Love God Whole-Heartedly.
Matthew 22:36-38 (NLT) “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”
2. The Wise Are Humble.
Proverbs 13:10 (NLT) Pride goes before destruction, And haughtiness before a fall.
3. The Wise Love Knowledge.
Proverbs 9:8-9 (NLT) So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.

Hebrews 12:10–11 (NLT) For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.

7. The Wise Are Courageous.
Proverbs 28:1 (NLT) The wicked run away when no one is chasing them,
but the godly are as bold as lions.
The wise person is bold like a lion for a couple of reasons.
o First- They fear God alone. They know that God is the one they will give an account to, so what can man do to them?
o Second- they recognize that nothing is worth losing your integrity over. Wise people won’t debase themselves because they know exactly who God has called them to be.
o Lastly, the wise person is courageous because they know that if they aren’t courageous publicly, then evil will win.
