The Holy Spirit’s Work In Us
1. The Holy Spirit Convicts the World of Sin.
John 16:8: “When he comes, he will convict the world about sin, righteousness and judgment.”
The Holy Spirit reveals to us our unrighteousness in light of God’s righteousness.
2. The Holy Spirit Testifies About Jesus.
John 15:26 :“When the Counselor comes, the one I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—he will testify about me.
3. The Holy Spirit Gives Us New Life.
John 3:3–5 “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” 4“How can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?” 5Jesus answered, “Truly I tell you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
4. The Holy Spirit Teaches Us.
John 14:26: But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
5. The Holy Spirit Helps Us Remember.
John 14:26b: “he will remind you of everything I have told you.
6. The Holy Spirit Helps Us Pray.
Romans 8:26-27: And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will.
7. The Holy Spirit Empowers Us To Speak.
John 3:34: “For he whom God has sent utters the words of God, for he gives the Spirit without measure.”
God speaks through God’s people by God’s Spirit.
8. The Holy Spirit helps us become like Jesus.
Romans 8:29: For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
